At Change Made Real we’ve realised that there are almost as many solutions as there are problems. We’ve also experienced that many of our problems are combined with, or stem from, other problems.
Given that complexity, we’ve studied a number of methods to address its various aspects. More importantly we’ve developed an overall approach that seeks to help you understand what you can do to help yourself.
We don’t focus on ‘Diagnosis’, we focus on what you’d like to feel better about. We start with what you present and go with you from there.
To this end we not only listen (‘though that is a big part of it) we sometimes use some of the assessment tools popular with Psychologists. However, first and foremost we like to help you understand yourself. We use various proven techniques, which can include:
Systemic Constellations (aka Family Constellations) as these quickly help us see the, often hidden, dynamics in your relationship to others.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) which provides a way for us to understand the many ‘parts’ of you, and how they can mean well whilst ‘getting in the way’ of your usual self.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming), a highly effective method for reducing, or removing, the impact of triggering events that may, at times, plunge you into seemingly irrational behaviour. We often use EMDR to treat the effects of Trauma, or PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), which unfortunately is present in many of our lives.
Imago Therapy we often use when working with Couples, to help slow their conversations, so that both parties can be heard and understood. We’ll teach you essential communication skills they don’t teach in school.
By combining these with other well-honed skills typical of a counsellor or psychotherapist, such as mapping the client’s mind, a shared strategy can be developed with you. Goals can be set and achieved. Real progress is made.
